Bulk feeder, 12" gas main and telephone relocations around the new Route 1 Bridge, plus transmission line coordination, traffic signal power and mainline services for a mixed use site.

Scope of Work

Utility Relocation

Relocation of underground and overhead utilities (power and gas) during construction of the new Route 1 Bridge.

• Dominion: Worked with the Dominion engineer to relocate three circuits of bulk feeder facilities. Provided project costs to the client and coordinated with Dominion on the relocation design and cost estimate. Also worked with the civil engineer on routing the conduit system and manholes required for the relocation.
• Washington Gas: Worked with engineers and project managers at Washington Gas to complete the relocation design and cost estimate to relocate a 12″ steel gas main onto the new bridge.

Force Main Conflict Relocation

Relocation of underground utilities (power and telephone) in conflict with a proposed force main installation.

• Dominion: Worked with the Dominion engineer to relocate 700′ of single-phase facilities. Provided project costs to the client and coordinated the relocation design and cost estimate.
• Verizon: Worked with the engineering manager to complete the relocation design and cost estimate to move 700′ of facilities in conflict with the proposed force main.

Transmission Line Coordination

Coordinated with the Dominion transmission group for approval of the fill required on top of existing underground transmission lines, and obtained the permits needed to install new utilities under the transmission line.

Streetlights & Traffic Signals

Coordinated with the Dominion engineer to design power source locations for multiple new traffic signals and to provide streetlights for the opening of the new Route 1 Bridge.

Mainline Services

• Completed a conceptual utility layout for the residential and commercial landbays, including Dominion, Verizon, Comcast and Washington Gas utility routes, conduit requirements and device locations.
• Coordinated the design and installation of all dry utility services to the onsite pumping station and Fire Station/condo building.
